DVD Review: Animal House

Last night Darrell talked me into watching Animal House since I'd never seen it before. He thought that I would either hate it, love it, or just think it was okay. I just thought it was okay. I think that the big reason I didn't enjoy it was because of having seen it so long after it's release. I've heard people quote the film so much that the lines in the actual film weren't funny.

Maybe it's just a guy movie. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it. I think that PCU is infinitely funnier. Maybe PCU is my generation's Animal House. I can see how Animal House would appeal to others, but not to me. I thought that it was just pretty lame.

Sorry to all of those who are huge fans of the film. It just didn't work for me.

(Again, Darrell falls in the floor in tears, laughing hysterically)

I could keep doing this, but since there's like, a 0.00005% chance of anyone else thinking it's funny, I'll just quit now and post this link instead.

Animal house was a huge part of my late childhood. It still makes me laugh like crazy.

PCU is OK... but it ain't no Animal House.

Mmm, I've never seen PCU. I just had high hopes for Animal House and for me it didn't deliver at all. Like Wendy said, maybe the problem is that I also didn't see it when I was younger.

Yes, MCF, I did. And PCU is really funny. Especially Jon Favreau. He's hilarious in it.

PCU IS the Animal House of the 1990's. It is the most apt comparison. I mean, I said it when I first saw it.

They are just two different flavors... made with the same quality ingredients.
