Wii Journal, Entry 01
We're getting our kids the Wii for Christmas this year... or, at least, we hope that we are. The pre-sales have all sold out everywhere, and we anticipate a long night in line at Wal-Mart on November 18th.
Even if we hadn't decided on the Wii, though, this commercial alone would be enough to convince us to not even consider the PlayStation 3:
The PS3 is clearly a tool of the devil.
The Wii, on the other hand...

Wow! That Wii looks like the shape of things to come. It's almost scary in a big brother kind of way.
Watch your backs!

We wanted to get a Wii, but they have priced it out of our range, especially when you consider how much it will cost to get a Wii up to family playing specs.
The base price is $249 for the system, one game and one full controller set-up. But, extra controllers are sold by the piece -- that is, the control pad part is one purchase and the nunchuck part is a separate purchase. Lat I heard, each would cost in part would cost in the $30 range, so a second full controller set-up is $60 (plus tax). Plus, a traditional controller would run another $30 or so.
It just went beyond the money I would spend on this sort of thing. We'll stick with our Gamecube for now and perhaps get a used PS2 to play the Marvel Alliance and Justice League games that are coming out (though, now that I think about it, Marvel Alliance was said to be coming out on Gamecube).

I thought Ultimate Alliance was NextGen only. The Wii is the only affordable option for me, but I've hardly used my PS2 this year so I'm in no hurry. I haven't even picked up Lego Star Wars II or Kingdom Hearts 2 yet; figure I can wait for those to go Greatest Hits.
PS3 is ridiculously overpriced. I just looked up Ultimate Alliance though and it looks like there WILL be a PS2 version after all. Awesome...

The PS3 is NOT a tool of the devil! How DARE you offend the GREATEST SYSTEM IN THE WORLD with your OBVIOUS BIGOTRY!. [/joking]
Anyway, my brother was using an early version of the Wii just recently and he got ticked off since he wasn't controlling the character, just when the tennis player hit the ball. Otherwise the thing ran all over the court for him and what not.

Legos Star Wars II rocks even more than the first one. Game is awesome and then some!
As for next Gen, I'll just wait for 6 to 8 months for the prices to drop or a lightly used one to be available.
